Mastering the Art of Observations: Unlocking the Power of Seeing Every Child!

Meaningful observation helps early childhood professionals look beyond what a child is doing in the moment and better understand their development, strengths, interests, and individual needs.

Mastering the Art of Observations is a 2-hour self-paced online course designed to strengthen educators' observation and documentation skills and help them use what they see to make thoughtful decisions about teaching and learning.

Participants will explore the purpose and importance of observation, key questions that guide effective observations, spontaneous versus planned observations, and strategies for documenting children's development. The course also examines how personal values, experiences, and biases can influence what educators notice and record.

Participants will practice distinguishing subjective statements from objective observations and explore how documentation can inform curriculum planning, support individual children's development, track growth through portfolios, strengthen classroom practices, and improve communication with families.

Participants will leave with practical strategies for making observation an intentional part of everyday teaching and using what they learn to better support every child.
